How does it work?
Whether you are on Google, Google Scholar, Wikipedia, a publisher site, or any other web page, the Click & Read searches for the document identifiers (DOI, PMID, PII) present on this page. When a document is available in one of the document collections to which the application is linked, a C&R button appears on the page. Just click to view the pdf of the article.
The extension is linked to the free resource Unpaywall, an open database collecting open-access scientific content from more than 50,000 publishers and repositories, as well as platforms Istex (Scientific and technical information of excellence) and Panist (National archiving platform for scientific and technical information).
When the article is not accessible in open access, Click & Read queries the resources of Inserm Biblio, of BibCNRS, from the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and the University of Orléans. Users access these articles provided they are recognized as having rights. Parameters allow you to select your preferences in terms of the platform to be queried.
What is a browser extension?
An extension is an application intended to provide your browser (Firefox, Chrome, Edge and Safari in the case of C&R) with additional functionality. Extensions install in just a few clicks. They are usually listed in your browser settings, and can be added to your personal bar if needed.
